6:30 p.m. Wednesday Service in the Chapel - Just a reminder, as we begin our Thanksgiving Weekend we will have our regular Wednesday night service in the Chapel. This week of course we will offer thanks!
Stewardship Ingathering – Over the last several weeks we’ve heard about giving. Many thanks to Rich & Lyn Gillard, John & Lisa Paul, and Steve Gutierrez for their very personal sharing of why they give. This Sunday at our three morning services (8, 9 & 11) each of us as individuals and as families will have a chance to come forward during communion to place our pledges on the Lord's table. We offer not just our money but our lives to God. Even if you have already turned in your pledge, we encourage you to lay your hand on the altar as a sign of your gift and give thanks for God’s goodness to you this year.
Advent Chains – Advent is time of waiting and expectation. Despite all that is wrong in our world it is a time of hope. Jesus coming into our world reminds us that God is not done with any of us. God did not abandon the human race as a failed experiment, but instead joined us in the most intimate way possible, promising to be Emmanuel, God with us through all times and all history. As part of our Fourth Sunday Family service, at the 11 o’clock service we will be making Advent Chains. Each link represents one day of Advent, the days leading up to Christmas. We encourage each household, young and old, single households or huge households to join us in making a chain. Each day you remove the link for that day and read the Bible verse as a way of preparing to welcome Jesus anew.
Parish Luncheon and a look at a draft of our Strategic Plan - As many of you know, the Vestry and others have met with Dr. Steve Sears from the College of Business at TAMIU to look at a 3 to 5 year plan for Christ Church. This is not a “pie in the sky” exercise, but one that helps us get intentional about fulfilling the mission we think God has for us as the people of Christ Church Episcopal. There is more work to do, but we want you the members to comment and give this task force your input on the initial work they’ve done. More to follow in next week’s parish e-mail.
Children’s Pageant - Christmas Pageant rehearsals start NEXT Sunday, December 6th - and will continue for the next 2 Sundays instead of the 11:00 Service Sunday School in the Parish Hall. If your child or grandchild plans to participate, but will not be here for all of the practices, please contact the office and let us know so we can plan a part for them.
Christmas Eve - Our Christmas Eve service begins at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24th with music, followed by our Children's Pageant & Eucharist at 6:30 p.m. We are still in need of 4 Ushers,
4 Acolytes, & 1 Nursery Worker for that evening! If you will be in
town and would like to serve, please call Connie in the office at
