Cleaning up our act!
We are having a parish work morning. We will be focused on cleaning, tree trimming, sweeping, cleaning the parking lot and more. Our Senior and Junior Wardens, Edward Glassford and Rich Gillard have a list of simple tasks that anyone over the age of 12 can help with.We have a beautiful spot, but like all places, it needs some tender loving care. Wear work clothes and bring your gloves and hats!
Growing Deeper - Sharing & Service
1. Churches grow warmer through fellowship. 2. Churches grow deeper through discipleship. 3. Churches grow stronger through worship. 4. Churches grow broader through ministry. 5. Churches grow larger through evangelism. (Pastor Rick Warren, “The Purpose Driven Church”)
I need fellowship and I need ministry. Sharing and Service. Both of those keep me sane. Both of them give me perspective on my joys, sorrows, and problems. Sharing in Christ means I can actually share my life with other Christians. I can let my hair down and talk about what is going on. Service is the opportunity to do something for someone else, which keeps me from being totally self-centered. Sharing and Service. This Saturday provides an opportunity for some of both. We will serve by cleaning our building and grounds. And hopefully we will get to share some of who we are with other members of our congretation.
Last week, at the 11:00 service, our Treasurer, Jim Moore, gave us the news that our giving has improved, our Yeti Cooler Raffle is beginning to get traction, and we have done some cost cutting and have refinanced the remaining balance of our loan for the roof, which has improved our monthly cash flow. Thank you!! One area of stewardship that could help Christ Church over the long term is legacy giving. Bequests or endowment funds are invested, and only part of the interest can be withdrawn to fund ministry. That insures that the endowment keeps growing and continues to generate money for the long haul. This Fall we will talk about how even smaller gifts can contribute to fund future ministry.
