This Sunday, the first Sunday of Advent, we will be looking at the last of the spiritual disciplines of “The Way of Love”, which is “Rest.”
Three other things are happening this Sunday morning.
1. Our first Christmas Pageant practice. Children will go out from the 11 a.m. worship service to start selecting roles and costumes. Practice will take place each Sunday, Dec. 1, 8, 15, and 22.
2. We will have our monthly parish luncheon. Bring a dish to share. This is your chance to be creative with your Thanksgiving leftovers.
3. Also this Sunday, December 1st we will be decorating our parish Christmas tree in the parish hall during our lunch time. Bring an ornament you are willing to part with or make one and bring it.
LATER THIS MONTH...
On Saturday, Dec. 14th we will be having our annual White Elephant gift exchange party at Paul and Anne Frey’s home, 139 Kentucky street at 6:30.
On December 24th, Christmas Eve services will start with music from 5 to 5:15 followed by our Christmas Eve Mass and Children’s pageant.
From an National Institutes of Health publication “...sales of melatonin in the United States increased by more than 500% between 2003 and 2014 ($62 to $378 million). “
Obviously Americans need more rest than we are getting. We are going to talk about “Rest” as a spiritual discipline or practice this coming Sunday, December 1st and all the other Sundays in December. Blessed Thanksgiving to all.
Use up those Thanksgiving leftovers! Bring them to church this Sunday, December 1st and join us for our monthly Parish Luncheon right after the 11:00 a.m. service. It's a chance to get to know other at Christ Church.
