Rich Gillard, our Junior warden is working with our Diocese and we are planning a Christ Church Laredo Hurricane Harvey work trip to one of the affected areas in our Diocese. Dates are still being coordinated, but it will probably be a Thursday night through Sunday mid-day trip to do clean up and construction. We will pay for our food and transportation. Any construction materials will be made available. We will most likely stay in one of several Corpus Christi Episcopal Churches’ parish hall and travel daily to the job site. This is not just limited to Christ Church Parishioners so if you have friends who might want to join us, knowing that it will be a work trip, please let them know they would be welcome and to let us know the information below.
If you would like to participate email Fr. Paul and Rich Gillard and besides who you are, let them know the following information:
1) Your Work Skills – general clean up, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and other skills.
2) What Tools you can bring – I have tools for clean up, carpentry…etc. please list.
3) List weekends in January & February that would work for you, including New Years weekend.
4) I want to go, but will arrange my own lodging. (Hotel, friend, etc.)
Send email to: email@example.com or to firstname.lastname@example.org
Thinking about this Sunday's gospel. (Matthew 25:14-30) Where have I invested my money, my time, and my abilities? And where do I want to invest those gifts as life goes forward...?
I have made some really bad investments of both time and money, and some really good ones although perhaps from God's perspective I might not be the best judge of either. Still learning to seek God's will after all these years.
We are in the midst of our stewardship campaign. As of Nov. 16th we have received 11 pledges for just over $41,000 dollars. Our goal is to reach at least $160,000 this year, which still leaves a long way to go in our $270,000 projected budget! And FYI, the 2018 detailed budget will be available soon.
Thanks to all of you who are planning your giving to Christ Church for 2018. As we approach the Thanksgiving Holiday, I am reminded once again that in world where evil and ugliness are often obvious, there is always much more that is good and beautiful. For that I am thankful.
Two Sundays ago for the sermon we showed our stewardship video. For those of you who were not here a few Sunday’s ago, our video is up on our home page and worth a few minutes of your time.
In Christ – Father Paul
