Ordination
In the Sacrament of Ordination we set apart people for the particular ministry of Deacons, Priests, and Bishops.
All Christians are "set apart" to be ministers by virtue of their baptism. In ordination we are saying that we recognize and want to bless a particular type of ministry this person should offer to the Church.
A call to ordination might start when Church members suggest you explore ordination because they see gifts and attributes in you that make them wonder if God has called you to this particular ministry. Or it may happen because you initiate the call, believing that God has called you, and through the pre-ordination discernment process the Church recognizes this call.
Ultimately, we ordain people when both the candidate and the Church recognize and affirm the call of God for this particular ministry.
If you sense that God might be calling you, please contact Paul Frey, the rector of Christ Church for a conversation.
