Quinceaños

Picture
Picture
Quinceañeras,  while not sacraments, are important life events. A quince gives youth who've been baptized an opportunity, (in addition to confirmation), at the time of their 15th birthday to make another commitment to Christ as they move forward into life as young adults. We ask them to commit once again to the promises made at baptism during the service.

Please call the parish and work out dates with the rector and fill out the application below and submit it electronically.

Our expectation as a church is that the youth reaffirm their faith in Christ and take responsibility for living out the Christian life, reaffirming their baptismal vows.

We come to this event to celebrate the young person and expect once more that God the Holy Spirit to pour new grace into those coming in faith.

Program - Readings - Music
We will print a program with the communion service, the quince promises, readings and music if there is music.

Note: If you do plan music, please plan on paying our organist to play unless you consult with us beforehand and make other arrangements. We would also need to have copies of the music several weeks beforehand.

When planning the service, you need to decide on readings. You can have one, two or three readings plus a psalm, but the last one must come from one the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John). Some readings that are often used are listed in the pdf below on this page.

Flowers
Many wedding couples and some quinceaneras whose service is on Saturday choose to leave the altar flowers for the church services on Sunday. This is not required but we need to know your plans, so we don’t order flowers if you are leaving them, and so we DO order flowers if you aren’t.

And if you are taking the flowers we need to let our florist know a time
they can deliver our Sunday flowers without interrupting your wedding or quinceanera.   (Victoria Florist is our regular florist)

If you are planning more than just flowers for the altar, please consult with the pastor to get a copy our flower policy.
